Alanna Kaiser, Social Work Intern

Alanna is a first-year graduate student at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work. She recently moved to Michigan from her hometown of Lancaster, PA. Alanna holds a Bachelor of Science in Community, Environment, and Development with a specialization in Environmental Economics and Policy from Pennsylvania State University and just finished a year of anti-poverty work and community organizing as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in her hometown. She is currently pursuing her MSW with a focus in community and youth organizing. In her free time, Alanna can be found biking, running, and kicking back in her local bookstores and coffee shops. During her field placement at Boggs this year, Alanna will be coordinating the school’s Volunteer Program, so if you’re interested in seeing how you can plug into the amazing work being done at Boggs, please reach out to Alanna! 


Janice Fialka, Social Work Supervisor

Alanna is supervised and mentored by Janice Fialka, LMSW, ACSW.  Janice is a nationally recognized speaker, author, and social worker with an expertise in adolescent health, parent-professional partnerships, inclusion, and post-secondary education for students with cognitive disabilities.  Janice served on the original board of the Boggs Educational Center Project Team.
